MONTICELLO - Melissa Ritter "Liz" Gregory, 91, of Monticello passed away at 2:19 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.Liz was born Feb. 11, 1933, in Streator, to Wallace Adam and Cynthia Augusta (Iserman) Ritter. She married James Arnold Gregory Jr. on March 13, 1965, in La Grange. He passed away on Oct. 21, 2020.Liz is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers.Liz was a librarian at Argonne Laboratory for 26 years. She was a member of the Embroiderer's Guild of America. Her hobbies included gardening, watching her yard full of flowers bloom, hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing, wildlife, nature, birdwatching, feeding the birds and squirrels. She also enjoyed writing poems, reading murder mysteries, and being part of her husband's many films.
