WHITE HEATH - Dennis Pontious, 64, of White Heath passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, at home.Dennis was born Oct. 7, 1960, in Champaign, to Richard W. Pontious and Imogene "Jean" Jones Pontious.Dennis is survived by his son, William Abraham "Abe" Emery; his twin sister, Diana J. (Victor) Orberson; his brother, Richard L. (Nancee Moster) Pontious; his special friend, Paula Cox; and his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Al Gustafson; his brother, William E. Pontious; and his nephew, Richard W. Pontious.Dennis graduated from Monticello High School and the Lincoln Tech Automotive Service Technology program. Following in his father's footsteps, he joined the Operators Union Local 965. If a machine was involved, Dennis was your man! It didn't matter if it was a semi, a dozer, a tractor, an excavator, or a skid steer. Using an excavator bucket, he could pick up a penny from the sidewalk and take the hat off your head.
