MONTICELLO - Clarence Eugene "Stoney" Stone, 82, of Monticello passed away at 11:35 a.m. Sunday (March 2, 2025) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, Mattoon.Stoney was born on June 16, 1942, in Monticello, the son of Edgar J. and Dorothy (Kingston) Stone. He married Gwen Musick in 1969, and they divorced in 1975. He later married the love of his life, Virginia L "Jinny" Mosgrove, on May 1, 1981, in Monticello. She passed away on Nov. 9, 2005.   Stoney is survived by his son, Jody (Jane) Stone of Monticello; stepson, Kevin Eastham of Madison, Ala.; stepdaughter, Kristin (Jeff) Humphrey of Mahomet; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his sisters Ruby Perry and Ann Stone, both of Champaign.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jinny Stone; brothers, Bob and Richard Stone; and sister Faith Kennedy.Stoney was a retired truck driver for Monticello Grain. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, storytelling, woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren and loved his dogs and cats.
